McDivitt Offers Cab Rides Home New Year’s Eve

The True Costs of Driving Drunk NYEMcDivitt Law Firm will pick up the tab on cab rides home in Colorado Springs and Pueblo December 31st, 2014

For the seventh year in a row, McDivitt Law Firm will offer free cab rides home to those out celebrating on New Year’s Eve. From 10pm to 3am on Wednesday, December 31st, 2014, people who have been drinking and do not have another way to get home safely can call Yellow Cab in Colorado Springs and City Cab in Pueblo between. Tell the driver it’s “On McDivitt”.

The McDivitt Safe Ride Home program is an effort to keep the streets safe for everyone in our community on heavy drinking holidays. “We want everyone to be smart about how they start 2015,” said David McDivitt, COO of McDivitt Law Firm. “We hope this program gives people an extra option when they plan how to get home safely on New Year’s Eve.”

McDivitt has been offering the program since 2007 and has given more than 19,000 safe rides home to residents of Southern Colorado since it began. The firm will pick up the tab for any Yellow Cab or City Cab ride, as long as the passengers are headed home – the free ride is not available from a bar or a restaurant to another drinking establishment. (See below for all the guidelines).

Guidelines for a Safe Ride Home

The Safe Ride Home program is for adults who have been drinking or who don’t have another safe way home. Rides are provided to an individual’s residence—not to other drinking locations. Due to the high number of ride requests, rides cannot be guaranteed for everyone who calls; however, every attempt will be made to accommodate all requests. Drivers have the right to use their discretion when accepting fares. Patrons are reminded to tip their drivers accordingly.

McDivitt Wants Everyone to Get Home Safely

The professionals at McDivitt Law Firm work with clients who have been injured or lost loved ones in alcohol-related crashes. To assist in the fight against drunk driving, the firm encourages individuals to make responsible choices by providing free cab rides on St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, and New Year’s Eve.

McDivitt Law Firm’s Safe Ride Home program continues to receive recognition from the community. In January 2012 and January 2013, U.S. Army Major General Joseph Anderson presented a certificate of recognition to the law firm. In September 2010, the firm was honored by the Pikes Peak DUI Task Force for its efforts to prevent drunk driving.
