Denver, CO – Two Teens Killed, Two Hurt in DUI Collision at Territorial & I-25 Frontage Rds
Denver, CO (August 6, 2022) – Late on Friday night, August 5, a suspected intoxicated driver was detained after a two-vehicle collision that claimed the lives of two adolescents and wounded two others near Castle Rock in Douglas County, just outside of Denver.
The collision that happened at 11:50 p.m. on Friday at the junction of Territorial Road and the I-25 Frontage Road is now being looked into by the Colorado State Patrol. The incident involved two automobiles, according to the CSP.
A 25-year-old male driver was the only occupant of the first automobile, while the other car held four 17-year-old teenagers. The four-person automobile had two teenagers, a boy and a girl, both taken to the hospital, where they were subsequently declared dead.
CSP said the two other teen victims, one of whom had critical wounds, were hospitalized. According to the CSP, the driver of the single-occupant vehicle, a man from Colorado Springs, was detained on suspicion of vehicular homicide and DUI. The victims’ names were not released in anticipation of the coroner’s findings. We send our condolences to the loved ones and relatives of the deceased victims.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their family members at this time, and we sincerely hope for their complete recovery.
Drunk Driving Accidents and Injuries in Colorado
The Colorado State Patrol’s data show that in only 2020, troopers issued over 4,440 DUI tickets to motorists. Sadly, suspected drunk driving incidents resulted in more than 250 fatalities due to injuries sustained. According to the authorities, these fatalities made up around 30% or more of all traffic fatalities in the same year, an increase of 19% over the previous year. Tragically, victims and their families endure suffering as a result of other drivers’ carelessness.
Typically, victims endure severe financial hardships, ongoing health issues, and severe emotional pain. The following, but not just, are a few of the most typical long-term injuries sustained by victims:
- Spinal cord injuries like whiplash
- Superficial wounds, burns, and scrapes
- Significant internal bleeding, organ damage, or severe blunt force trauma, such as a head injury
Occasionally, victims pass away from their wounds, leaving their heartbroken family members to pay for their expensive burial and hospital costs. This makes an already difficult situation worse and compels the victim’s family to foot the bill for an incident that occurred due to another party’s negligent actions.
