Almost a year after a mother and her two children were struck and killed while crossing the street, the man responsible for the fatal hit-and-run accident finally faces sentencing today.

Last November as the Bingham family made their way across the street in downtown Denver, Lawrence Trujillo and his passenger Eric Snell were riding in a pickup truck when Trujillo ran a red light. Trujullo’s truck slammed into the family of four, killing the mother, 39, and two young children, ages 2 and 4. The father was the only one who survived. Trujillo immediately drove away after the accident, but not before his license plate fell at the scene.

Trujillo could face up to 174 years in prison, and Snell could receive up to 90 days in jail and two years of probation under a plea agreement, according to the Rocky Mountain News.
